Our Technology
Technologies are constantly evolving. Dental technologies are no different. Over the years, numerous developments have been made that have enabled us to meet your needs better and provide you with the most effective dental treatments. This has allowed us to significantly increase your quality of care. At Naborowski Orthodontics, we are proud to utilize the latest dental technologies including ProSeal and soft tissue lasers.
ProSealBraces are a highly effective treatment for correcting crooked teeth. However, the brackets and wires make oral hygiene more difficult. Even if you follow your oral care instructions while wearing your braces, it is still possible to be faced with decalcification, which leaves permanent white scars on the surfaces of your teeth. Even though your teeth are beautifully straight, your smile is then marred by these white marks that cannot be removed.
What if we told you that we had a way to help prevent the decalcification of your teeth during your orthodontic treatment? We can do exactly that thanks to Proseal. Is an armor-like sealant that is designed to help keep your teeth healthy and strong, preventing decalcification from occurring. We have been using this treatment since 2006 to seal the facial and buccal enamel after your braces have been placed. The sealant coats the teeth, significantly reducing the risk for white scars and staining that are common with treatment, particularly in younger patients who may struggle with oral hygiene.
After your teeth are coated in Proseal, the material is then cured. It is a fluoride-containing material, which helps to keep the teeth strong throughout the duration of treatment. It is also resistant to toothbrush abrasion. After your orthodontic treatment is complete, Proseal is removed. While Proseal is meant to help protect your teeth from decalcification, it is no substitute for oral hygiene practices. You should continue to brush your teeth at least twice a day, although brushing after each meal is also recommended, and flossing at least once a day. When used in conjunction with proper oral hygiene, Proseal can help to keep your teeth healthy and beautiful during the course of your treatment.
Soft Tissue LaserThe use of lasers in dentistry is still fairly new, but this technology has been used in the medical field for a while now. Soft tissue lasers use a concentrated beam of light approximately the thickness of a human hair. The wavelength of the laser can be adjusted based on your needs and the procedures we are performing. Soft tissue lasers are designed to treat issues with the soft tissues within your mouth, replacing the use of a scalpel. The laser cauterizes tissue as it cuts, greatly reducing bleeding. Because of pinpoint accuracy, there is also less pain and swelling when your procedures are complete. The laser allows us to uncover mild impactions and treat a variety of gum issues, such as contouring, right here in our office. There are no additional appointments for you or additional expenses. Another major benefit is that soft tissue lasers mean we only need to use a topical anesthetic. You do not need to have any shots. While we still rely on the experience of our surgical teammates, being able to perform some of these issues in our office is nice, and more convenient for you. The ever-evolving technologies in dentistry have provided us with ways to customize your treatments and vastly improve the quality of care that we can provide for you.
